This language - dedicated to interchange of documents over the internet - was initiated by Tim Berners-Lee at the CERN in 1989 and has been developed by the World Wide Web Consortium to an efficient method to make available documentation and information world-wide. Since version 2.0 HTML is also conformable to SGML.
